What we do

Dance, Drama, Arts, and Culture

At Foundation of Hope – Kibera, we recognize arts and culture as powerful tools for education, awareness, and community transformation. Our arts programs provide platforms for young people to express themselves, develop their talents, and create opportunities for economic sustainability.

Drama and Theatre Arts: We use performance, poetry, storytelling, and plays to address societal issues such as gender equality, community resilience, and health awareness. These performances spark meaningful conversations, fostering deeper engagement within the community while equipping youth with public speaking, confidence, and creative skills.

Cultural Dance Program: Dance plays a central role in our programs. Through structured choreography and traditional African and global dance styles, young people celebrate their cultural heritage while developing discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence. Additionally, our dance program is a key sustainability initiative—public performances generate income that supports shelter, education, and operational costs.

Visual Arts & Innovation: Our arts program provides training in fine arts such as drawing, painting, sculpting, beadwork, knitting, and pictorial art. This initiative nurtures creativity while equipping youth with practical skills that can lead to future employment or entrepreneurial ventures. By participating in exhibitions and commissioned projects, young artists can transform their talents into economic opportunities.

These initiatives are not just about artistic expression; they serve as pathways for empowerment, advocacy, and sustainable development. Through the arts, young people gain self-confidence, develop essential life skills, and contribute to the social and economic well-being of their community. We believe in the power of creativity to drive meaningful change and invite supporters to be part of this journey.
